Puppy Preparation Guide
Setting up your home for your new Cavapoo LoveBug
Welcome Home
Bringing your LoveBug home is an exciting milestone. Set yourself up for success with our breeder-approved checklists, housing strategies, and first-48-hour protocols.
The 30-Day Preparation Checklist
Don't wait until the day before Go-Home Day to buy your supplies. We recommend gathering these items well in advance so you can spend your first few weeks focusing entirely on bonding and training.
- Appropriately sized wire crate with divider
- Quality puppy kibble (Exclusive Signature Chicken & Brown Rice)
- Stainless steel food and water bowls (non-tip)
- Enzyme-based stain and odor remover
- Adjustable collar and a 6-foot lightweight leash
- Chew toys featuring different textures (Kongs, soft ropes)
- Slicker brush and metal greyhound comb for coat maintenance
- Puppy-safe training treats

The First 48 Hours Home
The transition from their littermates to your home is the biggest change your puppy has ever experienced.
1. Keep it Quiet
It's tempting to invite all your friends and family over immediately. Don't. Give your puppy at least 48 hours to decompress, explore their new environment quietly, and learn that YOU are their safe space.
2. Establish the Potty Area
Before you even bring the puppy inside the house for the first time, carry them to the exact spot in the yard you want them to use. Wait until they go, praise heavily, and then go inside.
3. Introduce the Crate
Make the crate a positive space immediately. Leave the door open, toss high-value treats inside, and feed them their meals in the crate so they build a positive association from day one.
